This major project will develop a series of GIS-based predictive models of the location of prehistoric and historic archaeological sites in North Carolina, and will computerize all of the state's archaeological site records. These models will allow the NCDOT to better manage their environmental protection activities for new highway construction in the state, and will provide muliple other benefits.
