The Memorial House Museum of Konstantin E.Tsiolkovsky

Konstantin E.Tsiolkovsky lived in this house for 29 years, and it was here that he wrote the greatest number of his works on different subjects. Tsiolkovsky died on September 19,1935. Exactly one year later, on September 19,1936, a museum in his honor was opened in this house. In 1957, after the begining of Space exploration in that year, some space items were added to the museum. It was Sergey P. Korolev, the Soviet "Chief Designer" who initiated this process. On October 3, 1967, the opening day of The State Space History Museum in Kaluga, the Memorial House Museum became the"Konstantin E. Tsiolkovsky Memorial Department" of the Museum.

There are 7 exposition halls in the Memorial House of Tsiolkovsky (they are the rooms of the house). The most important and interesting are:

His Study and bedroom, containing the desk where he did his writing. Here visitors can see the chair of Tsiolkovsky, his bed, and some of his clothes.

His table with various books and a telescope that he built himself. At the center of the room there is a large table with the globe, spectacles, books, and magazines which belonged to Tsiolkovsky. There are also lamps, telescopes, and bookshelfs with the books in the different parts of the Study.
