The History of Rocketry of the XX Century (before 1945).

This part of exposition is about the early rocket movement in the world, including the main events and personalities of this human activity, which later led to modern cosmonautics.
Information about major Space flight pioneers is here, including:

Robert Goddard. 1882-1945. (USA), Hermann Oberth. 1894-1989. (Germany), and Robert Enault-Pelterie. 1881-1957. (France). More detaled information is about Soviet rocketry and rocket engineers - Sergey P. Korolev, Fridrih A.Tsander, Yury V. Kondratuk, and some other Soviet and world known rocket and space flight specialists, who did their first work in the begining of the XX Century.

There are also models of the first Soviet liquid propellant rockets and engines located here.

- Sergey P. Korolev. (1907-1966). The well known Soviet "Chief Designer" of Space rocket systems. He was among the first rocket engineers, who founded the first space flight research organization in the Soviet Union GIRD (the Group of Studying of Propultion Motion) in Moscow, 1931. Later this Group launched of the first Soviet propelant rockets in1933.

After World War II Korolev headed the Special Design Bureau (OKB) for the military missile industry which designed the greatest number of the Soviet missiles and space rocket boosters. Since the middle of 1950's, Korolev headed the main Soviet space research programs.

- Rocket Glider RP-318-1. Model of the rocket glider, which was designed by Sergey Korolev and sucsessfully flight tested in February 28,1940.

- Fridrih A. Tsander. (1887-1933). One of the first rocket engineers. In 1931 he founded and headed GIRD - the first soviet space research non-governmental organisation, which designed the first soviet rocket engines, and wrote some manuscripts about interplanetary space flights.

- OR-2. Model of Experimental Rocket Propelant Engine. This was designed and built by Fridrih A. Tsander in 1932. First test in March 18, 1933. It was fueled by a combination of of gasoline and liquid oxygen. Power - 50 kgs.

- GIRD-9. Model of the first Soviet rocket. With the mixed type of propelant, liquid and solid. It was launched in August 17, 1933 to the altitude of 400 m, and was designed and built by the Mihail K. Tikhonravov group of GIRD.

- GIRD-X. Model of the second soviet rocket. It was the first Soviet rocket with the classical liquid type of propelant, consisting of alcohol and liquid oxygen. It was launched in November 26, 1933, and was designed and built by the Fridrih A. Tsander group of GIRD.

- Valentin P. Glushko. (1908-1989). The founder of the Soviet rocket engine building industry. Since 1929 he worked in Leningrad in GDL- the Gas Dynamics Laboratory, the military rocket research organization, founded in 1921. He designed and built with his group many new types of rockets and produced the most sucsessful rocket engines in the Soviet space program. he was the head of the "Energiya" plant until his death.
