Museum Departments

The Konstantin E.Tsiolkovsky Biographical Department. This department is reponsible for the historical and biographical holdings of Tsiolkovsky.
Memorial House Museum of Konstantin E.Tsiolkovsky. This department is responsible for the house mueseum and its artifacts.
Open Air Exposition. The open air exposition, or "rocket park" contains various examples of rockets.
The Star Hall Planetarium. The planetarium has been in operation since the opening of the museum in 1967.
Excursion Department. This
is the department of the museum that is responsible for organizing excursions
for museum exhibits. It is also reponsible for preparing and giving lectures
in the museum and elsewhere for children and adults. It is also responsible
for excursions to the city and region.
The main subjects of lectures are:
- The History of Rocketry.
- The Problems of Space Exploration Activity.
- Konstantin E. Tsiolkovsky's Life and Works.
It is also possible to organize special symposiums for pupils and teachers
both in the museum and outside, on the different problems of space education.
Department of External Cooperation. This department is responsible
for cooperation with other space museums in Russia and abroad. It assists
other museums with designing their own exhibits, making exibitions, and
in the education of the museum workers. It's duties include:
- Providing assistance to state, non-professional, school space museums.
- Spreading of ideas of space exploration. (special museum business publications,
including video, film, and photo production, etc.).
- Organizing of conferences, syposiums and workshops on space education
and space museum business problems.
- Organizing of additional short term education for museum professionals.
Alexandr L.Tchijevsky Biographical Department. This department was
opened in the museum in May 1990. It's main subjects are the study of the
Alexandr L.Tchijevsky scientific biography, and the work of opening the
Tchijevsky Memorial museum in Kaluga, as a part of the Space History Museum.
Every year in March this department oranizes the Youth Scientific Conference
of Alexander L.Tchijevsky.
Alexandr L.Tchijevsky
( 1897- 1964 ) was a Russian scientist of space biophisics, and a young
friend of Tsiolkovsky. Tchijevsky worked in the tradition of late Cosmic
Philosophy. Tchijevsky was born in February 7,1897 in Grodnensky Province.
His father was well known Russian general of artillery. In 1913-1925 Tchijevsky
lived, got his education, and worked in Kaluga. In this town he made friends
with Tsiolkovsky, who became an advisor and scientific colleague to him
during his life.
His main works were :

"Les Epidemies et les perturbations electromagnetiques du milieu exterier".
Paris,1938. (France)
"Structural Analises of the Living Blood". Moscow,1959. (Russia)
"The Earth Echo of the Solar Storms". Moscow,1976.
The rest of his life he lived and worked in different research institutions
in Moscow where he died on December 20,1964.
Photo-Art Designing Department. This departement is responsible for
supporting the museum in the areas of photography and art.
Engineering Service Department. This department is responsible for
providing engineering services to the museum.
The Annual Readings of Tsiolkovsky. This annual scientific Conference
on different problems of space research has taken place in Kaluga, Russia
since1966. It is usually held in the middle of September (around the days
of Tsiolkovsky's birth and death). The aim of the readings is to provide
an overview of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky's scientific heritage, and to discuss
further development of his ideas.
