Mountain Gorilla Protection: A Geomatics Approach

"Gorillas in the data base"

Congo (the movie)

While we were working on the project in 1995/6 at Rutgers we were contacted by the Kennedy and Marshal film production company, who were in the process of producing the film CONGO, based on Michael Crichton's book.

I acted as technical consultants on the film, and a variety of our digital data and satellite images were used in the production. Technical representatives from the film visited our laboratories at the Center for Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis (CRSSA) and spent time learning about remote sensing/GPS/GIS and related technologies. They reviewed our Virunga data and observed our staff at work. We provided them with a large amount of data that were used in the film.
